Honda Civic 2017 - from Europe to the world!
Thanks to the kind help of the representative of the Japanese brand in our country, Bultraco, we had the opportunity to get acquainted with the 2017 Honda Civic model. This is another Honda global model, which however was developed in Europe and this 10th generation Civic will be available worldwide. Since its inception, Honda Civic cars (http://www.hondabook.ru/en/Civic) have always been one of the most important cars for the Japanese company.
The previous generation of the car sold over 620,000 units worldwide and was produced in factories on four continents. The preparation of the new generation in Europe was aimed at offering a premium model, prepared for implementation in all markets and with enough qualities to work perfectly even in the demanding markets of the Old Continent, such as the markets of the Federal Republic and England.
And the result of the efforts is obvious - almost everything has changed in the new Honda Civic 2017. The car uses a new platform with a wheelbase increased by 30 mm and an independent multi-link suspension on the rear axle. This is a brand new steel monocoque that is slightly lighter but significantly stiffer than the previous one. The length of the car increased by 136 mm, the height decreased by 20 mm and increased by 30 mm, which significantly increased the interior space in the cabin.
The dimensions of the new model, respectively, are 4518x1799x1434 mm, the wheelbase is 2697 mm, and the trunk volume varies from 478 to 1267 liters with the rear seats removed. The tank was moved from under the front seats to the rear, allowing for a lower and sportier seat. In fact, the center of gravity of the car dropped by 34 mm, and the pilot's seat - by 35. The Honda Magic Seats rear seat lift system disappeared from the horizon, and the trunk retained a large capacity. previous model.
The new 2017 Honda Civic has also seen revolutionary changes, especially under the hood. Two completely new petrol engines were developed from scratch especially for the model. Both turbocharged, both direct injection. It also marks the end of naturally aspirated i-VTEC, although the new engines also use variable valve timing. The smaller engine is a three-cylinder, one liter, 130 hp. and a maximum torque of 200 Nm.
The second is a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine with a maximum output of 182 hp. and 240 Nm. In the version of the car not with a six-speed manual, but with variomatics, the torque of both engines is reduced by 20 Nm.
These power characteristics provide acceleration of the model from standstill to 100 km / h for a three-cylinder engine in 10.4 seconds and for a four-cylinder engine in 8.2 seconds. Fuel consumption is 6.1 liters / city /, extra-urban 4.1 liters for a small engine and (5.5 / 4.2 and 4.7 liters for a larger one).
Honda cars have always been pleasant and sporty. In the new model, changes to the front and rear suspension resulted in a reduction in cabin noise, even when driving on our "prime" roads. The body soundproofing is really impressive, aerodynamic noise is virtually eliminated, and three cylinders are only audible at top speed. The only significant noise that was found is the tires, which are already 17 inches at up to 235mm wide. The car is more than comfortable, comfortable to drive, stable on the road and gives a serious sense of confidence even at maximum speeds.
The little engine is surprisingly vibration-free even though it doesn't have a balance shaft, but for a sportier ride, however, you'll need to accelerate harder and stay above 2,000rpm at all times. Its peak is at around 5600, where the limiter is set. The manual transmission is precise, has short throws between gears, is perfectly balanced and gives the impression of high reliability. Perhaps the best combination with a small engine is a CVT, which seems to be better suited to develop torque without stretching much of the "rubber band" known from more inaccurate continuously variable transmissions.
The spacious interior has enough space both front and rear, the materials and interior design are very high quality, even the basic version has a large package of security systems - active cruise control, lane keeping assistant, traffic sign recognition. and impact warning. After several generations of a spaceship-like car dashboard, the new one is more traditional and easier to read.
The Honda Connect infotainment system is in its second generation, offering a wide list of specifications and a 7-inch touchscreen. Satellite navigation from Garmin, it has two USB connectors and one HDMI connector, a DAB tuner, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and an updated eight-speaker audio system.
Who is this car for? First of all, for loyal fans and admirers of the brand, as well as for those clients who are tired of boring German small cars of the "folk" type. The car offers the second longest wheelbase in its class, your eye will immediately notice the difference between it and the orthodox car desk style in its class. With new engines and everything else, this model will be a serious challenge for the other five. -door hatchbacks in the European market.
